Procurement-Technical Product Lead

Summary:

The Technical Product Lead’s primary mission is to deliver technical products that address customer need and fulfill Business objectives.  This role will manage communications between Procurement, Solutions, Engineering, and Project Management and is the contact for all technical and commercial interactions with our external original equipment manufacturers (OEM) including forecasting and coordinating demand between internal Sales group and our partners. The Technical Product Lead will own the relationship with our suppliers and lead continuous improvements in cost, quality and lead time.

 

Reports to:   Strategic Sourcing Manager

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Engineering, Operations, Science discipline or experience in a related field required. Other education levels to be considered based on relevant work experience. Advanced educational degrees, such as a Master of Business Administration, APICS Certifications, or relevant technical discipline a plus.
  • Ability to lead initiatives to deliver expected outcomes.
  • Ability to understand customer’s operational flow and requirements and use that information in the development of the product(s) with the suppliers.
  • Experience and demonstrated skills managing products including heavy and/or light equipment, technologies, and/or services.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to have foresight in predicting risks and issues.
  • Excellent time-management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent at interfacing with customers, consultants, and upper management.
  • Takes initiative and has a superior work ethic.

  • MS Word and MS Excel required, while SAP, MS Project, PowerBI and Navigation of AutoCAD files are a plus.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with suppliers, Solutions, Engineering, and Project Management with any design changes, issues, and solutions to meet customers’ requirements.
  • Be the internal main point of contact to answer questions regarding the applicability, design improvements, delivery, specifications for technical information regarding products.
  • Assist in identifying and managing discrepancies between the sales offer and the technical products within the Functional Requirements Specification
  • Provide post sales communication to suppliers for enhancements on follow up orders.
  • Assist on product system analysis as needed in proposal definition and creation.
  • Assist in developing supplier Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), standard contract terms/agreement.
    • Work with Professional Services Group to develop and manage product spare parts policy and procedures, warranty policy, procedures, and 24/7 support agreements.
    • Work with internal departments to develop a defined balance of internal and supplier responsibility on product delivery.
    • Understand and inform others regarding product requirements such as electrical power, pneumatic air, electrical panel sizes and locations, floor loads.
  • Establish routine checkpoints between our suppliers and our Project Managers
  • Coordinate with Accounting and Purchasing for technical product payment terms and delivery process.
  • Assist in establishing and tracking key KPI’s within the department, striving for the end goal of seamless execution of procurement functions.
  • Attend Trade Shows representing DHW&H.
  • Travel up to 20%.
  • Partner with all members of the procurement and purchasing groups to ensure timely delivery of purchased goods and services.
  • Assist in various cost saving ventures within department.
  • Review technical specifications for purchasing of raw materials, components, and equipment.
  • Establish and ensure compliance on procurement policies that are in line with DMW&H objectives.
  • Provide technical communication to mechanical and electrical fabrication drawings to ensure consistency and ease of manufacturability.
  • Keep abreast of technologies used in our systems and be able to identify links between information to close gaps that may form.
  • Work with PSG group to support in determining proper fulfillment of items for spare parts and replacement.
  • May be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
