Field Installation Supervisor

Summary:  Supervise a crew to install conveyors, support structures, sub-assemblies, and air systems.

Reports to:  Director of Field Installation & Sub-contracting

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience running conveyor installation crews of at least 5 mechanics.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment BOM’s.
  • Frequent overnight stays for long periods of time.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Shoe sorter installation experience preferred.
  • Pop up sorter installation experience preferred.
  • Header steel installation experience preferred.
  • Incline / decline installation experience preferred.
  • Accuglide conveyor installation experience preferred.
  • Refrigerated or freezer environment installation experience a plus.
  • MDR conveyor installation experience preferred.
  • Ability to use MS Excel, MS Word, Windows laptop, Outlook .
  • Welding experience required.
  • Ability to operate lift equipment required.
  • GOH and rail experience a plus.
  • Ability to learn FieldWire.
  • Ability to work in an active construction project and within an operating facility with the requirement to practice, train others, and uphold safety standards and requirement of industry, OSHA, DMW&H, and customer.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to oversee material handling system installations meeting deadlines and budget goals.
  • Understand and layout conveyor systems from installation drawings.
  • Supervise crews to install MDR, Accumulation, belt on roller, sorters, merge tables.
  • Unload and inventory equipment deliveries.
  • Represent Company in construction meetings on site and communicate with customer on daily basis.
  • Establish and maintain professional and responsive relationships with customers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all trades on site as well as other DMW&H departments.
  • Recommend staffing needs according to job requirements.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize work.
  • Submit timesheets and expense reports weekly for crew on site.
  • Foresee risks and issues and escalate to Project Manager.
  • Train new employees/contractors on safety procedures, Company, and Site policies
  • Ability to negotiate with general contractors, trades, and vendors.
  • May be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
