Summary
The Procurement Engineer is responsible for overseeing manufacturing development, managing communication with project managers, supporting products from sales through implementation, and purchasing engineered materials. This role serves as the primary contact for manufacturing changes, fabricated parts, project updates, and coordination with internal teams, customers, and OEMs. Responsibilities include managing updates to drawings and fabricated parts, overseeing selected products end‑to‑end, forecasting demand, communicating production plans, controlling costs and margins, maintaining vendor relationships, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field required; equivalent experience considered. Advanced degrees or certifications (MBA, APICS, technical disciplines) are a plus.
- Ability to mentor and coach teams across Sales, Mechanical/Electrical/Controls Engineering, and Project Management.
- Lead continuous improvement projects and train others to identify improvement opportunities.
- Strong ability to lead initiatives and deliver expected outcomes.
- Ability to understand customer operations and requirements and apply them to product development with vendors.
- Experience managing products involving equipment, technology, or services.
- Strong critical‑thinking skills with the ability to anticipate risks and issues.
- Excellent time management, communication (written and verbal), and customer‑facing skills.
- Effective working relationships with customers, consultants, and senior leadership.
- Demonstrates initiative, strong work ethic, and commitment to team success.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel; experience with SAP, MS Project, and navigating AutoCAD files is a plus.

Responsibilities
General Product Management
- Manage external products (NuMove, DLS, AmbaFlex, RSU, SIA), including vendor relationships, pricing, delivery, and design updates.
- Serve as the primary internal contact for product questions, specifications, applicability, improvements, pricing, delivery, and sales support, and provide manufacturing and shipping updates.
- Identify and manage discrepancies between sales offers and Functional Requirements Specifications during early project stages.
- Initiate service and support discussions with core vendors before transitioning to the Professional Services Group.
- Support post‑sales efforts to secure enhancement and follow‑up orders.
- Assist with product system analysis and proposal development.
- Lead opportunity requirements with Sales and apply appropriate commitments based on the sales channel.
- Follow and continuously improve the New Product Process.
- Work with the Contracts department to develop MOUs and standard agreement terms.
- Maintain protected client lists and define internal versus vendor responsibilities.
- Update proposal and engineering documentation and manage revision control.
- Develop vendor acceptance test plans, reference guides, and maintenance manuals.
- Coordinate with internal teams on vendor network infrastructure and installation requirements, including electrical, pneumatic, panel sizing, and floor loads. Partner with Project Managers on invoice approvals and vendor change orders.
- Lead product continuous improvement efforts, gather customer feedback, and implement lessons learned.
- Ensure product decisions align with financial goals and project budgets.
- Track production from order through shipping and delivery, coordinating delivery dates with Project Management.
- Coordinate customer training before and after go‑live.
Fabrication
- Work with the Director of Field Installation to identify recurring field deficiencies, track them, lead corrective actions, and report progress consistently.
- Partner with Engineering and Installation to reduce reliance on fabricated parts by shifting to standard off‑the‑shelf components; maintain tracking and reporting, and ensure a reliable, redundant supply chain for any remaining fabricated parts.
- Maintain and update standard pricing.
- Lead and mentor team members in value engineering to drive cost reductions.
- Monitor exchange‑rate impacts on pricing and notify Finance when pre‑buying currency may be beneficial.
- Keep Operations Report data (sales value, hours, costs, etc.) current.
Purchasing / Engineering / Project Management Liaison
- Communicate design changes, issues, and solutions with suppliers, Solutions, Engineering, and Project Management to meet customer requirements.
- Serve as the primary internal contact for questions on product applicability, design improvements, delivery, and technical specifications.
- Assist in identifying and managing discrepancies between the sales offer and technical products in the Functional Requirements Specification.
- Provide post‑sales communication to suppliers for enhancements and follow‑up orders.
- Collaborate with Professional Services to develop and manage spare parts policies, warranty procedures, and 24/7 support agreements.
- Work with internal teams to define responsibilities between DMW&H and suppliers for product delivery.
- Assist in establishing and tracking departmental KPIs to support seamless procurement execution.
- Partner with procurement and purchasing teams to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Support cost‑saving initiatives within the department.
- Review technical specifications for purchasing raw materials, components, and equipment.
- Help establish and ensure compliance with procurement policies aligned with DMW&H objectives.
- Track and maintain vendor performance related to on‑time delivery.
- Participate in evaluating vendors and their capability to meet company needs.
- Maintain and update lead‑time guidelines for common equipment based on historical and current orders for use by applications and operations teams.
General Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor team members to complete responsibilities within DMW&H guidelines.
- Maintain clear, timely communication with internal teams, vendors, clients, and consultants.
- Manage internal and external expectations and build strong professional relationships.
- Regularly engage with outside suppliers and maintain effective phone communication.
- Collaborate comfortably with Accounting and Purchasing as needed.
- Deliver projects that meet customer requirements on time and within budget.
- Host and coordinate meetings with vendors, customers, and internal resources.
- Assist in establishing and tracking departmental KPIs to support efficient procurement operations.
- Responsible for protecting confidential information in accordance with company security policies. Duties include following secure data handling procedures, reporting potential security incidents, and completing mandatory security awareness training to ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements.
- Attend Trade Show representing DHW&H.
- Travel up to 20% as projects require including weekends.
- May be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
