Summary:
An Applications Engineer II at DMW&H is responsible for supporting new business procurement through technical evaluations, system design, and estimating. Operates with the rest of the solutions team to develop the technical content of customer proposals. As a Level II professional, this role independently oversees small to medium‑scale projects and processes with minimal supervision, while collaborating with senior team members to develop innovative concepts and solutions on larger opportunities. Challenges may include complex and difficult problems requiring thoughtful solutions.
Reports to: Manager of Solutions Engineering
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering preferred; other disciplines considered based on experience.
- Relevant work experience in our industry is required. Due to the advanced nature of this role, we are looking for the applicant to be an expert in one area of relevant material handling sub-systems (ASRS, Bot ASRS, Palletizing, GTP etc)
- Proficient in AutoCAD (latest versions), with 3D design experience preferred; familiarity with Configura a plus
- Strong understanding of equipment applications across multiple material handling technologies and sales verticals (e.g., Food & Beverage, Retail, 3PL).
- Skilled in writing RFQs, evaluating competitive bids, and selecting vendors based on technical and commercial criteria.
- Under the direction of others, ability to understand and create tools within DMW&H, such as conveyor system rate modeling tools, etc.
- Able to interpret customer data and operational flow to define mechanical system requirements and apply internal design tools effectively.
- Advanced Excel skills, including spreadsheet automation and macro development; working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Visio experience a plus.

Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary mechanical point of contact for opportunities, reporting roadblocks and coordinating milestone meetings with the Solutions Consultant.
- Design and illustrate customized material handling solutions tailored to client needs. This can be done through various CAD tools.
- Develop and/or oversee cost estimates and follow the opportunity plan milestones set by the lead. Also provide technical support during pre- and post-sales consultations, presentations, and milestone meetings.
- Meet with vendors to evaluate equipment capabilities, software functionality, business terms, and identify new technologies or alternate suppliers.
- Work alongside others in the department, and at times asked to develop and lead training sessions on new technologies and processes.
- Represent DMW&H at trade shows and support opportunities that may require occasional overnight travel.
- Responsible for protecting confidential information in accordance with company security policies. Duties include following secure data handling procedures, reporting potential security incidents, and completing mandatory security awareness training to ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements.

• Compensation Range: $73,771.00 to $110,657.00 Annually
