W&H Systems’ Paul Laman Named 2013 Provider Pros to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine

Chosen for Thought Leadership in Wine & Spirits Distribution Market

Carlstadt, NJ – February 14, 2013 – W&H Systems, Inc., a full-service integrator of conveyors and material handling systems with a state of the art Warehouse Control System (WCS), that improve fulfillment operations and achieve maximum warehouse efficiency, announces that Paul Laman, Vice-President, has been named a 2013 Provider Pros to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine. Paul was chosen because he is widely recognized as a thought leader and expert in the beverage, wine, and spirits distribution markets, delivering solutions that improve fulfillment rates, maximize space utilization, improve order accuracy, and minimize operational costs.

“Paul is so well recognized in the wine & spirits industry that leading industry analysts, the media, and current and prospective customers seek him out for his expertise and creativity in distribution models, professional advice, and detailed problem-solving skills,” said Don Betman, president of W&H Systems. “Paul understands the issues and challenges that Wine & Spirits wholesalers face, such as seasonal high volume, an increasing number of beverage producers, and growing demand as well varying state regulations. This is a great honor for him, and he truly deserves this prestigious award.”

“Our annual list of Provider Pros to Know highlights the many thought-leaders who are helping to shape the supply chain industry and advance supply chain as a respected discipline in the enterprise,” said Barry Hochfelder, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “Their efforts in developing the tools, processes and knowledge base necessary for supply chain transformation, and in promoting new approaches to supply chain enablement, have earned them a place on this year’s Provider Pros listing.”

Consumer demands and expectations are putting enormous pressure on the wine and spirits industry – tastes change and the number of worldwide locations producing wine & spirits has grown, adding many different SKU’s. In fact, the whole industry has grown 25 to 30% over the last 5 years. Add to that more mergers and rising operating costs, plus the proliferation of brands and SKUs, making distribution issues a high priority for companies in the wine and spirits industry. Paul sees the industry searching for more efficient, cost reducing, and faster distribution solutions, resulting in the demand for a more sophisticated WCS (Warehouse Control System) and flexible material handling solutions in the distribution center (modified picking methods, palletizing stations, different delivery truck loading criteria, etc.). W&H Systems is working with customers to develop new “hybrid” solutions to meet this challenge by incorporating material handling equipment along with robust WCS capabilities to integrate best practices from both the wine & spirits and beer arenas.

Paul Laman has been with W&H Systems for almost 25 years working with clients to solve their issues and challenges within the wine & spirits distribution industry. He started in engineering, then moved to project management, and has been in sales for the company since 1993. Prior to W&H Systems, Paul was a Regional Manager with Primerica Financial Services. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology. Paul is a member of the Material Handling Industry of America and the Material Handling Society of New Jersey.
